Financial education for victims of Domestic Abuse, with support from London Freemasons
The £5,000 grant from London Freemasons will directly support clients who are victims of domestic abuse and need their financial needs protected. Domestic abuse (including financial abuse) often leads to unmanageable levels of debt.
The grant will enable the charity to support even more clients with wrap-around support, specifically for women who have experienced domestic abuse, who we know particularly benefit from an individualised approach that works at their pace and adapts to changing needs.
Crosslight Advice supports an average of 2,600 individual clients per year, emphasising the important work that is carried out in the community and highlighting the scale of the problem. Crosslight Advice’s central vision is to tackle endemic poverty within our local communities and thereby increase community wellbeing and the life chances of those individuals and families we support. Operating from over 30 locations, our critical, community-based programmes deliver comprehensive money, debt, benefits and housing arrears advice; build financial resilience through money skills education and one-to-one budget coaching; and mentor clients with open-ended holistic support to increase their mental wellbeing and social mobility.
Bruce Connell, Crosslight Advice Chief Executive, said: “We are so grateful to London Freemasons for their generous support and for placing their trust in Crosslight. We know that those who are facing the trauma of domestic abuse are especially vulnerable, and this support from London Freemasons will enable us to walk alongside even more of these individuals in need.”
Paul King, London Freemasons, said: “Domestic abuse affects many people within our community and we are pleased that our grant to Crosslight will be used to support those most vulnerable within our communities to get the advice and support they need to break the cycle”.
